How to Benefit from Reverse Prospecting

Reverse Prospecting is a feature of Flexmls - our MLS platform from FBS Data.

There are two sides to Reverse Prospecting - matching your listings to other members’ searches and matching your contacts to other members’ listings. It works by searching for MLS members who have contacts with saved searches that match your listings, as well as searching for listings that match your contacts

To be eligible for reverse prospecting, a search must have been created or updated within the past year and it must be attached to and enabled in a contact record in Contact Management.

Let's dive in!

Turn Reverse Prospecting On or Off for a Contact

The Reverse Prospecting option must be selected for each contact whose searches you want to make available through reverse prospecting. Use the following procedure to turn this option on or off.

  1. Click Contact Management under Contacts on the menu.

  2. Click on a Contact name to open that contact's details.

  3. Click the Edit Contact button.

  4. To allow members the ability to contact you about the contact's saved searches match, check the Enable Reverse Prospecting box. To exclude a contact from reverse prospecting, make sure the Enable Reverse Prospecting check box is not selected.

  5. Click Save Changes.

Match Your Listings to Other Members' Contacts

To search for other members' search matches (contacts) for your listings, run the Reverse Prospecting process.

  1. Click Reverse Prospecting under Contacts on the menu.

  2. Your listings that are in Active, Pending, and Hold statuses appear on the Reverse Prospecting page. Select the listings that you want to find search matches for.

  3. Click Run Reverse Prospecting.

  4. The Reverse Prospecting Matches page displays the Member’s name, their associated office, and their contact information. Identifying information for the member's contact is not included.

  1. Select members and click Email Selected, or otherwise call the members to let them know that you have a listing that their contact may be interested in.

Match Your Contacts to Other Members' Listings

You can also use the Match Contacts process to find which of your contacts might be interested in a particular listing according to their attached searches.

  1. On the search results page of any given search, click the drop-down arrow next to the MLS number for a listing and click Match Contacts.

  2. On the Match My Contacts to a Listing page, you can view your contacts who have attached searches that match the listing. You can then Select the contacts to send the listing to.

  1. At the bottom of the page, click Email Listing to Selected Contacts. The Listings to Email page will open, where you can select the information to include in the email message.
